Golden Globe Predictions (TV only)

Ceremony cancelled? Bummer.

A couple years ago, I would've been pretty upset. But since I haven't seen many of the nominated motion pictures (though in the past few weeks, caught 'Juno', 'Atonement', & 'No Country for Old Men'), it's not that big of a deal. Admittedly, I'll miss the pre-ceremonial red-carpet parade of our hyper-elite celebrities. Sometimes, they say the silliest things when put on the spot during an interview...without a script, they're just as dumb as me.

However, I watch more than my fair share of television, so here are my fearless GG predictions (my winner in bold):

BEST SERIES - DRAMA
Big Love (HBO)
Damages (FX NETWORK)
Grey's Anatomy (ABC)
House (FOX)
Mad Men (AMC)
The Tudors (SHOWTIME)
'Big Love' got some buzz...but this year, it'll be good to be Grey.

BEST ACTRESS - DRAMA
Patricia Arquette – Medium (NBC)
Glenn Close – Damages (FX NETWORK)
Minnie Driver – The Riches (FX NETWORK)
Edie Falco – The Sopranos (HBO)
Sally Field – Brothers & Sisters (ABC)
Holly Hunter – Saving Grace (TNT)
Kyra Sedgwick – The Closer (TNT)
Carmela Soprano's swan song...bravo!

BEST ACTOR - DRAMA
Michael C. Hall – Dexter (SHOWTIME)
Jon Hamm – Mad Men (AMC)
Hugh Laurie – House (FOX)
Bill Paxton – Big Love (HBO)
Jonathan Rhys Meyers – The Tudors (SHOWTIME)
Hugh probably the frontrunner, but I'll go out on a limb w/ Big Bill.

BEST SERIES - COMEDY OR MUSICAL
30 Rock (NBC)
Californication (SHOWTIME)
Entourage (HBO)
Extras (HBO)
Pushing Daisies (ABC)
Good prognosticators bet with their heads, and not with their hearts. Oh well...let's go, three-oh!!

BEST ACTRESS - COMEDY OR MUSICAL
Christina Applegate – Samantha Who? (ABC)
America Ferrera – Ugly Betty (ABC)
Tina Fey – 30 Rock (NBC)
Anna Friel – Pushing Daisies (ABC)
Mary-Louise Parker – Weeds (SHOWTIME)
Love M-L Parker, but this could be Tina's year. Enough America Ferrera already!

BEST ACTOR - COMEDY OR MUSICAL
Alec Baldwin – 30 Rock (NBC)
Steve Carell – The Office (NBC)
David Duchovny – Californication (SHOWTIME)
Ricky Gervais – Extras (HBO)
Lee Pace – Pushing Daisies (ABC)
All roads point to Steve Carell, but the original David Brent may take this category...after all, it is the foreign press that's voting.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
Ted Danson – Damages (FX NETWORK)
Kevin Dillon – Entourage (HBO)
Jeremy Piven – Entourage (HBO)
Andy Serkis – Longford (HBO)
William Shatner – Boston Legal (ABC)
Donald Sutherland – Dirty Sexy Money (ABC)
Even though I've got a strange feeling that someone from 'Damages' will win in a supporting role, I gotta go with the Piv.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Rose Byrne – Damages (FX NETWORK)
Rachel Griffiths – Brothers & Sisters (ABC)
Katherine Heigl – Grey's Anatomy (ABC)
Samantha Morton – Longford (HBO)
Anna Paquin – Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee (HBO)
Jaime Pressly – My Name Is Earl (NBC)
The HFPA will remember Griffiths from her great performance in 'Six Feet Under' a few years ago, but Heigl's been all over the place lately. Watch out for Rose Bryne, though.

There you have it! If I see a couple more movies before the winner's announcements, I may be bold enough to make motion picture predictions...otherwise, I'll wait until the big O.

Ciao4Now.
